(Not 100% certain of the 'm')
7 D. Problem over Ireland being romantically sentimental (7) ??y??al
(Could perhaps be 'd?y??al').

I am not sure your letters are right for 7d as I have Maharanee for 20ac. What have you got there?

If you have ADDEEM for 6ac how have you arrived at it?

I did have 'addeem' - it meant 'award' and I thought the 2nd 'd' was good for the start of 8 D. I've now realised that this might not be the case!

Filmfan, I should have added that I had a typo in the letters I gave for 7 D. It should of course have ended 'rl'.

Have now got both answers, but thanks to anyone who's been mulling over these!

What are they please. I used to think McKenna had gone soft but this is his hardest for some time.

Have managed - I hope - to solve the two clues myself.
