It's rather thick now, but you seem to have figured it out.
As I've said before in another puzzle,
never assume. Read the preamble 3 times, then read it again.
That's tripped me up a few times.

does have a B, in the centre.
23 does not. The exception.
22 construable, but not in any of my dictionaries.
34 one of the US terms. Well done, peterm! That one stumped me for a while.
Bottom line, looking at your analyses, you guys are brilliant. Wasn't as hard as I thought.
