My first reading was: "nip into dive - one"(reading "one" as 1 = i.
(one has been used as 1 in quite a lot of xwords including Times and RT)
However, you may well be right with your singular.
It's odd when you say that someone is said to have "a bit of money" they are thought to have more than a bit! Or you could read it as "a bit (an actual bit)" I need a lie down. ha!
