So sorry my friends for having to gallop off. A friend had a car breakdown in a remote area and I raced to the rescue. All is now well.
I enjoyed the clue solving, nice comments and banter. I'm a bit knackered now (must have been missing my 3-hour repast lol)and will not thank everyone by name. I'm just glad there has been such a good response. Herewith my breakdown:-
1. he + b in sang = SHEBANG = affair (the whole shebang/affair)
2. anag of ‘the gin’ in ‘rough’ ( feeling rough/feeling off-colour); yielding RIGHT ENOUGH = plainly (Chambers)
3. {double} fix = FIDDLE = a raised rim etc ..... (“wardroom table, e.g” is to suggest the nautical connection)
4. {cryptic} RAISED ONES/YOUR GLASS
5. anag of “often its cure” = COUNTERFEITS
Till next time
Bless
J
