98. answers are either plants or rivers, yes? if the answer can contain a plant or river then "was tolled once in sight of bell rock (3,6) then ..... tay bridge fits.

bell rock is directly to the east of the bridge and used to have a toll charge, which was lifted (with all scottish bridge tolls) in may 2007. best I can do.

Thanks Phillip. I wondered if it was a toll charge and looked the area up but didn't find it.
I've got some sort of answers for most of them now though I think some are wrong. Just one I've got nothing for at all. That is: 79) Gordon's Prudence on Joey (6) I thought it might be a river ending in ond (d for pence as a joey is fourpence) but can't make the connection with Prudence.

P.S. Got 'water of Leith' just prior to my last post - I'd been using the wrong words for the anagram!

the old coin with a thrift on it was the threepenny bit and this had the joey nick name. so thrift is definitely the right answer.
