Aristo, no player of either persuasion would admit to deliberately kicking with the toe - far too inaccurate and potentially painful. They use the instep.

Torquemada: Hate to burst your bladder, but an American football is indeed kicked with the toe (toe poking, toe kick...). It's also possible that in this imperfect universe even a soccer ball is occasionally propelled by the toe, even if it's an unforgivable mistake.

The last full-time straight on (i.e. toe-poking) placekicker in the NFL was Mark Moseley who retired from the Cleveland Browns after the 1986 season.
