Welcome to CLUE CHAIN

The idea is to start with a cryptic clue - set by me this week.

The first correct solver, judged by the setter, is then invited to offer their clue and so on.

The person who solves the first clue starts the next CLUE CHAIN (Thursday 19th Jan. around noon).

Once you have solved and then set a clue you cannot enter again, although you can still comment.

30 min time limit per clue and if not solved the setter must declare the clue 'open' and everybody can play again.

Game closes 18.00 GMT

The opening clue is:

Short measure of rum, say, with nothing in it- that’s a tempter. (7)

It's 7am here, and I'm tooling around getting breakfast, taking pooch out, etc., but will keep checking site.

I'm here, but I can't do it. Presumably it starts "TOOT"...?

Very well done Aristo! I thought the short measure of rum was a "tot" which was a very small measure for navy personnel.
