Another tour de force ixion. I have a slight quibble about 2. The anagram is clear enough, but where's the definition?

The definition is a bit vague peterm(and on reflection "Daily Mailish"- arghh) - Imam being the "orator/leader" appealing to baser instincts of his flock!

Great, ixion! I would NEVER have gotten the doughnut thing (yet again, a transatlantic disadvantage), but naturally peterm got it. Speaking of whom...I was hoping you and he would have a go at the puzzle I posted below; the clues aren't particularly difficult, but the construction is (I think) breathtaking.
