HOWDY FOLKS

Hope all are well. OLDGAL nice to see you getting stuck in again and PUPESMOKER,hope your hospital visit is not too stressfull.

This week's crossword I found very straightforward although there were many neat
andclever clues which, for once,I managed to solve without resort to any reference book.
Oops,I tell a a lie,I had to check the newsreader's name of which I'd never heard.
I,m surprised that some had trouble with 5d,
for I find that word comes up quite often in
crosswords.

BEST REGARDS TO ALL

Hi all
I've just had an email from Chris Mart who has now amended his answer to 16a to the correct one, on his website. Thanks Chris

I now have a word which means a rope for raising/lowering a flag at sea but where does "layabout" come in?

Good morning all,

I'm late on parade this week but I'm pleased to say that I didn't have any difficulties with this week's puzzle and 16a wasn't a problem to me.

It was pleasing to see that Old Gal was quick off the mark and my best wishes to her, Navigator and Pipesmoker, whose bravery in the face of adversity should be a lesson to all of us.

With best wishes,

Caravaggio
