Hi Les
Lovely puzzle, thanks again.
A couple of words here that i'd never heard of, but your cryptic methods led me to them very well.
Particularly fond of 4 down, had a real penny drop moment when I figured your thinking to get the last 3 letters. A lovely clue, expertly crafted!
Not sure about your wordplay on 17 down though.
Keep them coming!

owing to = in the red

one making a late delivery = hearse

Hi All,

Yes, I'm STILL enjoying it - more so now that I've got the correct answer to 17d.

Was a bit too devious for me!

That was great fun,Les!Thank you!For a long time I couldn't make out anything in the bottom half, then your explanation of 17d got me going again.Particularly liked 14a,18d,21d.Where's the whistle, though,in 24d?Must be very thick this morning, but maybe I haven't really tried hard enough to imagine.

Good crossword, Les40 thanks very much. I hope you don't mind my answering greedy kite's query.

Whistle and flute is cockney rhyming slang for suit; that's a nice whistle you're wearing.

Very enjoyable crossword, Les, with some nicely tricky clueing. You've set my mind at ease over 17d which I filled in but wasn't clever enough to parse properly; would it be too much of an imposition to ask you to post a dropbox document with an annotated solution? That would leave this thread free of spoilers and give us a chance to confirm the wordplay.
