RT finally arrived, unlike last week when neither mine nor my mum's came at all. Not the first time by a long way either. Anyway, that's trivial in the scheme of things - I add my best wishes to Navigator along with everyone else.
As for the crossword, I'm still stuck on 18d even with Pipesmoker's cryptic help. And I appear to be the only person who has failed on 3d...pointers please? Wordfinder easy enough though:-)

Thankyou for your kind thoughts for me.
Chris4food, Pipesmoker and Wendy.
I have said a wee prayer for Old Gal
going into hospital today for what will be a rather unpleasant stay.

Thanks for your help Molly - those were the lines I'd been thinking along but I STILL can't get them. Obviously having a very dense day. Can't even find the right number of letters for the anagram for 3d! I'll come back to it later in the hope that inspiration strikes.

Hi Mrs Trellis
I've had days like that - and plenty of them!

All the best to Navigator and Old Gal.
I thought the puzzle was less devious this week.
You've all put me off the idea of subscribing to RT, at least when I go to the shop I know I'll get one.

Best wishes to both Navigator & Old Gal.
Straight forward and less obscure clues this week, with the exception of 2D. one of those clues where there is only one answer but how does it fit in with the clue
Regards
NIMROD

Hello Nimrod
2d butt = remains (of a cigarette)
real = concrete as in concrete evidence etc.
Hope this helps
