TENNYSON is the answer for the clue you mention ---SONNET (muddled) round NY (NEW YORK).
Yes You didnt need four of the answers (but which four) Actually HOPKINS,CHAUCER,DRYDEN, WHITMAN (Can you sort them out)
I fear my little game was too difficult for most but peterm did get to the end.

I don't get the wordplay for 15 - "Service by end of alcohols. Around? Now!." I tentatively had the answer as Sassoon, but see now it was Arnold. Why?

I would never have got Oliphant - never heard of him or her.

"Translated bit of poetry round the city" is Tennyson. Anagram of sonnet around NY.

Ah i see,
sorry to be picky but you earlier(post 31 on this thread)gave Tennyson as the answer to clue 6.(not 16).
now i don't really see how Hopkins fits the clue to 6.
