Hi old gal

Sounds as if you are keeping your spirits up.

One tip from the dietician who helped my daughter was to keep up the calorie intake as much as possible.

"If you feel like eating jam doughnuts for breakfast, go for it"

My kind of dietician!!

Old Gal and Karen,

So happy to hear from the both of you.

What do hospitals and computers have in common?

Both are prone to bugs and viruses...boomboom!

Sorry, very weak joke.

Take care both,

Hi Old Gal,

Keep smiling! We're all in your corner so keep fighting. Just to put matters in perspective in relation to 3d, my father was a Church of England Reader [for 35 years] and he would have known the answer instantly. "Shame on you!" I hear you cry. Exit stage left shamefaced...

The Winston you want is now Lord Winston, previously Professor ****** Winston.

Sorry Old Gal,

My end seems to have got chopped off! Every one an innuendo. So I'll repeat it...

With very best wishes,

Delighted to have you back with us Karen. I too missed your cheerful comments very much and the site seemed much duller without you. If your computer collapses again, do what I do and take yourself off to the local library and use one of their computers.

Old gal sorry to hear about the cancellation but hopefully the chemo and/or radiotherapy will do the trick. Nice to have you back with us though.

I got most of this weeks finished with the usual struggle but am stumped on 6D and 18D. I have filled in 19A but do not understand the clue except for the `bumped into` bit meaning `met` and the whole thing being something shiny. What or who is the famous Liverpudlian?

Hi Mondrian,
re 6 down - the answer is an instrument used
for beating e.g. corn from the wheat and with
the letter L from lake put into it.
Still struggling with others.

The famous person is a female Liverpudlian and "turned" is another way of indicating "backwards"

Yaay, dunnit!!! Must confess, though - 18d and 19a nearly flummoxed me!
Best wishes and good health to you all
