No delivery of RT today. Guess those still lucky enough to be working class were having a holiday. It will probably be the same next week.

I suppose, in a way, I am blessed because Mrs P is not a great crossword fan. Can you picture the scene if it were different. Spouses elbowing each other out of the way to get first grasp of the magazine as it flops through the letter box. Not that that would happen here. I would be the perfect gentleman and craven coward I have always been.

Roll on tomorrow.

P.

hello Brico, and welcome to the thread. I still haven't cracked the answer to 17d (plus a few others) but will push on - to bed actually, looking at the time! See you all tomorrow...

Thanks Old Gal - another word for bear should be helpful! I did not read the thread for RT17 so I am one of the idiots who put calor! My loss is Royal Mails gain.

Verily, verily, the postie has been. Quite straightforward this week. Had to score off the letters for 3 down, though.

Hi Brico,
I take it you've sorted 17d now? Bear is a verb and raise refers to the clue being a downer!
Old Gal,
Please let us know as soon as you get the all clear!

Good evening all,

I actually finished this yesterday but I didn't want to open the batting so I decided to come in lower down the order.

I am pleased to see that Brico has joined us and I hope that all is well, Old Gal, and that you've not been made to worry unnecessarily.

With best wishes,

Caravaggio

Thanks for your thoughts but the news is bad - an aggressive cancer which will have to be fought aggressively! Have an MRI booked to see if it has spread anywhere else and another appointment at a specialist hospital next Tuesday - they are working so fast I dont know whether to be worried or pleased..... Am stunned and in denial I think! And I still haven't got the bear clue....... I dont want to be me anymore...

Hello Old Gal, So sorry that you have had bad news. Don't blame you for not wanting to be you. There are no magic things to say, but I hope you will come through like the friends I told you about before. They were also processed very quickly once diagnosed. One had radical surgery and chemo. The other has had 6 lots of chemo. And my lovely niece had massive surgery- so much that we thought she would deflate like a balloon. They are all through it now and are full of beans. I wish you good treatment, support and strength. Will be thinking of you.xx
