That wasn't too bad, once the penny dropped. ;-)

Still have to shade.
28D has a couple of possibilities. Assume it's the grape?

I'm not sure there's a clear-cut choice for 28dn. There's the grape, and an Arthurian knight. The latter seems more in keeping with the vaguely Welsh flavour of the puzzle.

Another day, another look at my Spectator grid. Like many others, apparently, I was looking at 28 D to 'highlight the normally clued solution which 1,2,3 would finish in Wales.' I've got an answer for 28 D, but it's not 'normally clued' - should I be looking elsewhere to highlight an answer?

I'm not sure I follow you, Chimp. As you say, 28dn is not normally clued, so it can't be the one to be highlighted.
