I think you'll find that 'that' refers to 'obsolete change' where 'd' = old penny.

8d: Stable of a similar kind in Scotland houses Indian pony (6)
9d: See target of destructive bouncer, one in, duck! (5)
I get enduring, stable, and duck, of course.

9d, anyone? Noble ixion? I thought about just letting it go, but envied the niggleless peterm, even though he's a cyber-phantom. (Just kidding, peterm. I know you must be real. Well, "know" is a little strong I suppose. I even doubt the existence of California, despite the fact that so many acquaintances claim they've been there. I mean it just doesn't seem possible.)
