Good morning, Jim.

I have dragged myself away from standing in the corner! Have you ever heard of that expression for jacks?

Before anyone reads my previous post, and the reference to 'favour' - and wants to correct me, the proper expression is a 'kerchief of plaisance' which, like your last post, is more aesthetically pleasing.

Kind regards,

Caravaggio

Caravaggio and BigDave

The snobs game was called 'alley-gobs' where I was dragged up.
So I googled it and low and behold more names appear for the same game:-
Chucks, Dibs, Handles, Hondies, Jacks, Pot Checks and of course knucklebones (the use of bones from sheep). So I can fully understand anyone not quite associating the name snobs with the game.
I ran this past some work mates and the snobs was the favourite.

Good morning to you too, Wombat.

Thank you for that and isn't it fascinating how expressions for the same thing vary around the country? Had you ever heard of 'dabs'?

Best wishes,

Caravaggio

Until now, I had never heard of 'snobs' or 'dabs' as game names.

So, inspired ...

A Saatchi while once between jobs
Rebranded the 'jacks' game as 'snobs'.
When asked why he did this
He replied it was his biz
To stop it being enjoyed by the yobs.

Hi Polly Dee,

How about BLIND BOGEY? It's a golf tournament format but I can't see why it would fit into another category.

I apologise for the brevity but I have to be somewhere else in 20 minutes!

Regards,
