Jolan, &c is a standard abbreviation - at least in Wee Stinker land - for etc. Latin 'et' = and, as does &. To regulars this was an obvious anagram.
I've been doing this crossword (God help me) since it started and have yet to come across a poor clue.

Chambers xword dictionary gives &c as synonym of et cetera

Les, thank you. I was looking in Chambers Dictionary. I've learned summat new today.
Ixion. So it is! Never thought of looking at 'et cetera' in C. Thes. Thank you
Funny that Trevor and I have never seen &c as etc. I've never used it when setting.
