Tricky 40 minute solve from Pasquale, involving a degree of general knowledge and/or deduction.
FOI 14a, LOI 27a, which I should have seen earlier.
Not entirely sure I’ve parsed 11a satisfactorily, so will be interested to see what you all think.
COD: as ever, I find it hard to say, but will propose a tie between 15d and 29a.

Thanks to the Don. I found this about Prize norm in difficulty, finishing time in the same ballpark as yours though I forgot to note it.
Quite a few "gimme" clues, but several that were tricky and even vexing.
FOI 1a, LOI 13 which required Google and was far outside my GK.
I also doubt I've fully parsed 11, though I see the key idea.
Also happen to share your CODs, as my 3 co-COD are 15, 26 and 29.

You are quite right, geeker: 26a certainly deserves a nod.
I think we are probably in agreement re 11a, and the more I look at it the more I think I’m right and also like it.

I’m sure I must have the same answer for 11 as you two, but I think I would like it better if the setter had used “Action” instead of “Feature.”

Solvers of last Saturday’s Prize puzzle, especially those with Chemistry degrees, may be pleased to know that the Guardian has published a correction to the puzzle. It reads…

The start of 17d has been changed from “Element ...” to “Compound of element ...”

Think of your answer as being two words

I see 11 as a sort of reverse clue. Read the answer as 5,5 and that describes what you see in the clue. ..

why is the last part of 28 "discioke"?

12 is surely commercial rather than political?

since when has 16,17 been a thing?
