Gave up last night with four left to solve. Thanks to PDMs this morning I’ve finished. Thoroughly enjoyed it, thanks to Picaroon , one of my favourite compilers, very clever and entertaining.

COD quite a few but will go for 27a and 4d

Well done for finishing. I'm feeling like a wuss for giving up. Although I've been a vegetarian for 40+ years (my Mum told me I was on vegetarian rations as a toddler), I am always keen to try new recipes. So, I would be interested in yours. If you post it, you need to let me know where and when to look - perhaps next week.

Of the clues I solved FOI 9ac, closely followed by 25d; LOI 24ac, thanks to a hint; COD 12ac. I still can't explain 19d, though I guessed the answer.

I found this crossword quite easy with a few stinkers to challenge me.
Thought 4 down and 8 down were clever.

13a parses 1, 4 with an extra letter in 2nd place
17a Homonym for disdainful utterances

3d is a 7 letter cricketer minus his/her last letter followed by a 4 letter word for air (as a verb)

not entirely right i'm afraid, pauly!
23 homophone is german artsongs (plural)
3 take the final letter off a generic cricketer, the add a 4 letter word for "air" as a verb
13a is 1,5, with an extra letter in third place
