Thanks Quisling, I don't have Bradford's but if it's the word I'm thinking of it can also mean "information" or "details" - the letter is a numeral but a medieval one for 400!!

Okay, having just looked back through the thread, I see I wasn't the only one to fall into the elephant trap that is the 5th misprint!

That was fun. It looks like I had the same issue as others initially with 24a but once I looked at the list for that period the correction I was looking for was clear.

The clue that had me foxed, even after the end game, was 9d even though I had 5 of 6 letters. I couldn't disassociate 'white goods' from kitchen appliances. Got there in the end. 😄
