Merry Christmas everyone!

I am all finished with this one. I struggled for awhile to understand the purpose of the "Princess..." and "Chinese..." clues since their answers have little to do with the completed grid. But then I noticed that by putting in these answers and removing the top and bottom card one is left with a valid crossword puzzle (which the instructions imply, but I failed to parse until well after finishing). Fun solve Lionheart!

Will37, I should have read your post at # 37 more carefully. I get it now. Thanks.

WILL37 Blackbird clue. Word for "Heavens!" Initial letter changed to its voiceless (in phonetic terms) equivalent.
I'm still struggling with the film.

Could someone parse the wordplay for the second 11 down clue (Cat/duke tec.)? TIA

Thank you, ortolan, for explaining the Blackbird clue.
I found that Googling the 18-letter message brought up the title of the film and it was the matter of a mere click to watch the relevant scene.

Can someone put me out of my misery? Am making a logic mistake somewhere.

When I complete all Across clues for the middle card, there remain many holes in the grid.

I then put the bottom card under it, that takes care of 14 of them.

Before worrying about any clashes, I have 23 holes remaining. Given that the top card only has 18 characters, how can this work?

Enjoyed that, and, unlike most others it seems, also quite like the film.

Only loose end for me is 2nd down clue. Have what must be the answer but can't make head or tail of the WP. I saw the hint earlier in the thread and it hasn't helped, so something not very subtle would be helpful

Thanks
