I’ve made a diary note for 50 weeks from now to be on high alert! :-)

I have managed to solve 12 & 26a and 7 & 25d.

Now I’m stuck.

I’ve got a feeling 8d is an anagram but even with 2 letters I don’t see it.

Are there any other anagrams?

22a is a hidden word druh. If it is any comfort, this crossword is well towards the difficult end of the Everyman spectrum, IMO.

I'm feeling under the weather, which I'm using as a excuse for giving up with only about 2/3 done. Another fsctor is that 2,3, and 4 downs were a bit iffy!

However I don't think the Smiley reference is coincidence. If you read "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy", 10a is the specific person in charge, who sets Smiley the task of sorting out who did it.

That did seem like a hard start to my normally relaxed Sunday! Thanks to the CCL comment for assisting - I had two but hadn’t clocked the connection. Thankfully no words/phrases that I can think of with CCC for 50 week’s time Geeker!

Wow! Tough one, pleased to finish! Very enjoyable though. Well done buddy for figuring out the CCL reference (which I didn’t even spot).
Those who are fairly new to solving shouldn’t be discouraged if they find this one difficult, it’s much harder than usual imo.
Thanks to Everyman.
