I’m in a similar position. Just returned to this. Can someone please help me with 22d? Petitions God right away, spilling heart in afterthought. (5) because I understand what has happened in the other 3 silvered entries I am more than a little frustrated with this one. I have ?RM?SE so am sure I must have an error somewhere.

lm22 - 'enjoying success' = in it (to win it?) reversed, followed by an anagram of 'set'.
From the initials you've given you have the wrong poet [he's very old and very famous and sounds like the 3 letter synonym]. Think of another meaning for 'press' - an amorous sense of the word.

...and, yes - make only words running vertically (the acrosses are anagrams of the same word).

Thanks drxx.

As it stands, I have two jumbled words at the top and bottom, using the same letters. I have found these same 5 letters at evenly and symmetrical spots in the grid. When I un-jumble them I get a plural body part.

I have the four extra words and what I think is a synonym for all of them beginning with N. However, I cannot find a poet whose name is a homophone of this synonym I have… I must be going wrong somewhere. Any more pushes…?

The synonym begins with d.
If it helps, you can download OQD (all 1768 pages of it!) and do a search of the quotes attributed to the poet. That should lead you to the verse's title and the word.
