Quite a beast this week! Not only am I not on the same wavelength as the setter, I'm pretty sure I have no desire to be if the answers I have managed so far are correct.

I'm rather stuck in the top & would hope that 2 answers would spur me on further :

1A - Good to stay in after hours, far from fully fit (9)
????????E &
13A - Putting one's own away in jail : note one sounding furious! (13)
????????I?T??

13 Cannibalistic, putting one's own away.
PS I found this so tough this week, I did even less parsing than usual, just stuck in likely answers!

I parsed as follows…
1 H (hours) A BIT ABLE (far from fully fit)
13 CAN (jail) N (note) I (one) BALISTIC (sounds like ballistic)

Malone, Jono

Thanks for these. I'll get brave & have another look in a bit.

I do so agree with Malone's comment about abandoning the parsing 7 just sticking in what the answer appears to be. This particularly applied to 52A where I cannot see what "OMEGA" has to do with Fine, Blossom, or Pruned! I do see that it comes out of the clue but the rest of it?

Thanks again. I may be back......

THanks, Bear - especially for agreeing about abandining parsing! Many solvers don't feel a clue is properly resolved unless they understand the parsing. I am less fastidious - a correct answer is a correct answe...

PS Omega is just hidden!

Sorry, Bear, you'd said you;d seen it (Omega) in the clue. I overlooked that. There must be somewhere that shows Omega equals Fine, but I Haven't tracked it down (well, I've not actually looked...)

I read fine/omega as in ‘the end / conclusion’

Well, I read Theology a very long time ago & I am happy with the notion of Omega meaning END, but FINE? Got me there.

I've now finished the top & am stuck on a few - all overlapping of course - in the middle right.

Can anyone come up with :
28A Argument and fights after pressure to provide viewing accessories (3, 3, 5)
??T ??? ??X??

This might help crack the remainder....
