I have to say the bells are defeating me still. And the clanger hasn't dropped yet.

Hmm, so I've got 26 - could see that word all along but it made no sense. I didn't know it was a kind of beard so I'll accept it but am totally not seeing how the rest works!

For the Bells it just takes some googling....

Just not getting 81 and 82 at all.

rocky7 - as above, 81 is a place that gives its name to a carol. 82 is what you do in a shower.

Both 81 and 82 are discussed earlier in the thread.

81 is a very old carol, quite famous and quite beautiful, although it deals with Herod massacaring babies. That's probably why its not a carol one hears often on pop stars' Christmas albums. Named for where it is most famously performed.

82 I thought the first two words are a bit weak for the definition but it just about ****es. What does one do in the last word?

As Boxing Day draws to a close I'm finally done. It was the final cracker that went in last. As previously mentioned it was too easy to get distracted by the Jacob's version.

I’m not sure I’ve got 6 across correct - the word I have could be followed by … of Dollars for a Western? And I am stuck on the Angel - is the first word 5 letters?

Then I just have the very bottom left to finish. Could I have a hint for 57d then hopefully the rest will follow?

Angel - No, it's 9,6 (more business and commerce than Christmas)

57d - Soft drink, 5,4
