You have probably heard extracts from his Bachianas Brasileiras, though. The turn up all over the place - adverts etc.

ChrisE - always the same one though - the vocalise bit from number 5! I have a soft spot for number 2 (The Little Train of the Caipira), but some of the others are rather less tractable.

I don't stand much chance of finishing this (ability, not time!) but the two-thirds I've achieved so far has been really enjoyable. 6d and 10d both made me laugh, so much so that I'm quite determined to see how far I can get.
I think I've got answers for 11a (currently P----) and 8a (--L- --U-H-) but need a couple more downers to confirm.
And this thread has helped me to parse a couple - thanks!
