Hi chrise,

12a - it doesn't, it just gives the last 2

24, 22 - both are contained in the first word

13, 9 - there's an anagram involved

Thanks both. I carelessly didn't write out the anagram for 24,22 - I see both the duck and the C now.

After the initial problem with the app which nobody else seems to have experienced I made quite slow progress. Some easy early clues, FOI 1d, but like many Paul puzzles, once you nail the long answers, it becomes much easier. LOI was 17d which I also thought would be a COD contender.

All in all I thought this was a brilliant puzzle. Some absolutely superb clues that really made me smile when I got the parsing. His best for a while. Thanks Paul and thanks as ever for all you posters on here who gave me valuable hints.

Cheers Rocky, glad you got it all sorted out - I know the app can be temperamental:-)

Hi all. Nearly finished - thanks for hints.
Can’t complete 26 - is it a wood tool? And can’t parse 1D.
15A new to me, too.
Liked 1A, but COD is 9A because of the clever misdirection.
Enjoy your Saturdays

Hi BarryC
26 is a reverse hidden
1d insert last letter of cockpiT in another word. Read "pilot" as a verb.

Hi Barry,

1d - 4 letter "one looking" goes around single letter "back of cockpit" - definition is "pilot"

26a - hidden in clue - definition is "do little"

Well I liked 1a for its simplicity but perhaps it's quite a common ploy. Initially thought about nitpicking 3d on grounds of gender but looked it up and there is a masculine word that fits the bill.
