Thinking about it I have seen UC used for capitals before - just couldn't see it this time. Can start the Jumbo cryptic with an easy mind now.

I think UC might be Upper Case round N for knight as you say.

I thought it was unclogged, and have sent in my answer accordingly. N=knight in chess notation, but I can't see how U and C are capitals.
