Hi Andrew,

I think the answers are FANTASIST and FLOOD.

Thanks Jim - am not sure about the two suggestions. I think 8A could be THROW and although Fantasist sounds ok for 14D, I'm stuck with a Y for the 6th letter from 20A Aysmmetric.

Surely you mean ASYMMETRIC.

I have seen 8a given elsewhere as THROW - when I tried to find it again, instead I found this:

The same clue in an RT crossword from August 2005!!

Ah yes, THROW is a much better answer for 8ac. Somehow, FLOOD isn't cryptic enough.

1. Assuming 11a. is UNICYCLIST, stuck on 4d. *H*L.
2. 17d. has to be OSTRICH. The RICH is wealthiest but "not married" for OST??????

Hi Allan.

4d is RHYL [sounds like RILL]

17d is indeed OSTRICH. 'Wealthiest' is MOST RICH; 'not married' - take away the 'M'...

Caravaggio

Thanks Carvaggio. Sod's law swung into action & the penny dropped for both of them right after I posted the query.
