Anagram of Bali and bus.

I think you've got a problem, the clued letters should be:

BU?A?I?

Bubalis - anag bus bali

Not an anagram - public transport round island resort i.e. Bus round Bali.

I note what you say MISTLEY and ask you to tell me why the letters busbali cannot be anagrammed into Bubalis.
Could you also help by explaining why 'resort' is not an anagram indicator.

I don't think an anagram is indicated in this clue.
Rather it is one word (bus) written around another word (bali - "island resort") neither of which have been re-sorted.

I also think it would be quite unusual (and maybe a bit unfair)for the setter to indicate that the answer is an anagram of two words that aren't given.

For anybody interested the full clue was,
Hartebeest taken by public transport round island resort.
Answer:Bubalis

I realise this is just my interpretation and i must say i enjoyed the whole puzzle very much.

trevor's explanation is spot on. but I do have one little quibble. Bubalis is the latin name for the asian water buffalo not the hartebeest.

Can someone tell me how Hartebeest = Bubalis.
