Well spotted Crypto & Trevor! AJT you were right first time [but not necessarily for the right reason ;-)]
First chance I've had to check this site ~ if you hadn't cracked it I would have given a hint as to the clue number being significant; as you could see that's why I typed '1across' in full.
Another favourite of mine, quite well known I think so probably easy for you to get, was by the late, great Bunthorne (Bob Smithies) of The Guardian:

"Amundsen's forwarding address (4)"
