rap (reversed) + sec - dry

3d, As well as killing Goliath, David was a psalmist.
D for depth. devoted is "avid".
7, Strike is "rap", Northward means reverse "rap" giving "par".
"Sec" is a term for dry champagne or wine.
"Parsec" is a term for measuring the distances between stars.
