Hi Zardoz - I've been away from the PC for most of the day - finished this quite early this morning. I didn't know the names, but found this site a great help http://crossword-solver.utsire.com/. I'm not sure that I've done that correctly! This combined with Google found all that I needed.

No comments on 10d anyone? The clue is

Ugh...

I suspect I'll kick myself when told - why does B=300 at 36A?

B was a symbol in medieval Latin for 300, which puts me back on my pronunciation soapbox. Have you noticed how HD (aitch dee) has inexplicably become Haitch dee? Catullus took the proverbial out of this 2000 years ago (Catullus 84), but who reads Latin these days?

Thanks Tom - medieval Latin isn't my strong suit!
