Thanks djawhufc. I understood the clue, just didn't realise Scone was a place in Scotland.

Still a bit niggled by the theme. I can see how the hiders were hiding in the grid and in one case in a public space but in what sense were the seekers seeking?
I really enjoyed doing this puzzle but the theme feels a little clumsy - unless I have missed something.

I'm in the slow lane again! In 18 how does MATA equate to "Stig's left marks". Also I am stuck on 21 and 26. Thanks.

Solved all the clues now but what does "uncovered" mean in the preamble?

I agree with Smithsax. Spent some time trying to figure out how R and T fitted in with the rest of the puzzle, before eventually guessing they don't. All seeems a bit too contrived with several unconnected themes. Pleasant enough though.

All done - I'm very pleased to say as I often fail to complete the Listener.

Can anyone help me understand 1 down. I have the answer and the missing 'a' but cannot see how 10 and 6 come into it.

Also I not that some posts refer to a novel. I Know there is one with the same title as the puzzle but cannot see any connection. Am I missing something?
