Yes, it was good fun. Would have finished a lot sooner if I hadn't convinced myself early on that the theme was Roger Casement and a comma.

The definition is 'stud' verb. It's a 2-letter gambling game with a 2-letter abbreviation for doctor inside +2-letter abbreviation used when referring to ships (I think).

The seven letters are right next to the word that is the first part of the 'phrase'. I can't think of any more hints - the earlier ones felt quite explicit!

Have the theme I think, and the changes, which is fun, but cannot get 19d.

I think the last two letters are abbrev. of Steamship.
