ChrisE @56

Many years ago my daughter visited Paris with either the Girl Guides or the school (can't remember which, she went with both) and sent her mum a text along the lines of "Sitting on the steps of the Louvre eating chips and curry sauce. Life doesn't get any better than this!" You can take the girl out of etc. On the other hand, she has inherited her mum's preference for "blue" steaks so was offered many leftovers on another occasion by her friends who didn't enjoy the French undercooking (to them) of their lunch.

Sorry, folks. I'd almost finished winding things up when the tablet ran out of charge and I lost everything.

Thanks, everyone, for taking part. A high standard as always. At the end Ginge @17, Paul @28 and BBM2 @38 gained 1 vote each. On 2 votes apiece were Ixion @29 and Busby @35. Runner-up on 3 was FJ (4 months today it'll Christmas!) with the worthy winner, with 4 votes being ChrisE @23 with

Elementary studies?

Your prize, despite the song title, I think has a bit more in the way of Physics than Chemistry with echoes of the prize Aristo awarded to Marty for winning PR 247.

and, just to show what a big softy I am, from the same album, here's a little song the front man co-wrote with Carole King who provides harmonies and electric piano on it. Ignore the homemade visual accompaniment.

As ever, I appear to have made a mess of the prizes. Can't cut and paste so it's all virtual keyboard on a tablet. I'll try again.

Gosh! Thanks for the votes, FJ, pigale, AB and busby, and the mentions, paul, BBM2, ginge and rossim.

Thanks for running the show, SW, and the clips - nice songs (which, indirectly, have helped me pick next week's challenge).

The clue was actually my first thought, but, as a chemist, I thought the definition was too loose, so I went for the one that ginge helpfully pointed out was incorrect - thanks for that, ginge!
