Re "coven"...both Chambers and Brewers have it hat there are commonly THIRTEEN witches to a coven?

I went with the Macbeth witches for 11A. (Don't see a "Cavan" connection, Stevie. Can you enlighten?). Dubious about 19D but opted for "Spanish" if only because of the numerous irregular verbs. Might, on the other hand, be something to do with "irregular" soldiers.
