This week's word was chosen for the diverse definitions that could be hidden in plain sight and our clever contributors didn't disappoint.
Some nice touches were chrise's "left left", seamus' "Settle Green", steve's "do", aristo's "fling" and ginge's "picnic".
In the end it came down to two super smooth efforts - paul's charade @ #17 and peterm's DBE @ #12 .
While peter's effort is so witty and topical I do feel it would be a write-in and the penny drop would come via reverse engineering the wordplay.
In contrast paul's would have me chewing the pencil for some time and therefore I narrowly prefer his winning clue -
Role played by unknown individual (5)
You may have seen this before, but it still makes me smile
