Some answers are jumbled and shorter than the grid length.
They have to be made whole by using redundant words appearing in some other clues.

I have about 10 remaining.
But here are 4 that may have at least one normal clue.

19. Cut back to limit a nuclear byproduct (7) ??ST???

27. Quick with answer having recalled last one (7) ?E??VI?

6. Bird of prey flying at line (7) ???N?W?
Could be Barnowl? But how?

17. Old woman filling a job in the old country(7)

6. Normal - you've missed out a crucial letter in the clue, it's Lines, plural.
17. Normal. The W is wrong.

17. I think your A is wrong.

6D is anag. The answer is another word for KESTREL.
17 is old name for major European country

Got 27a. The "last one" just became clear.

For 24, I had three letter word for RULE and when reversed with I,
it gives me a word for a Governor in mid east. That is where A came from.

But if A is wrong, I have to find another word for Rule.


Other two still not solved but will pursue.

I had tried the anagram but the two I tried did not give me the word for kestrel. I just looked kestrel up in crossword dictionary which did give me the answer.

24A seems to be first letters of 4 words.

I have managed to get a full grid, but the extra letters don't seem to make any sense whether read vertically or horizontally. I must have erred somewhere. I have 7 amended answers.
Any hints or suggestions please.

So far I have 5 thematic answers.

Need hints on these two.
