I had thought that fingers might be used as a quantity, but I suppose that would require a specific number, so:

I had never heard this expression; in my neck of the woods it's always called a green thumb.

First of all apologies for wrapping this up a little early. I have a small window of opportunity to do this and thought sooner was better than later .

After a slowish start we managed a decent “crop” of 22 clues from 12 cluesmiths.

I’ve been watching the clues come in and have been mightily impressed by the standard on show.

Some really nice touches were peterm’s “skill in bed” , fiery’s “reverend” - not Spooner this time!, ixion’s “touches” , skyewalker and les with “kermit” then steve rolled out 3 pearlers in a row @ 18,19 and 20 - not to mention the tricky subtractives and cryptic defs and I was in deep trouble trying to pick a winner.

Help was at hand with a late great entry from therogue @24 and he pipped you all with

10 handy tips for growing better plants (5,7) (to be picky I would have preferred "ten" to "10" ! )
