Got it. Many thanks jogamel, kirky et al. (There's Al, again!)

But I have an R as the second cell in 31 across, which rather spoils it. Is this wrong?

I've got the R there too, but don't think it spoils things. It looks like a... to me. These representations aren't always great.

Tillysmum, it's always better to give the clues, numbers of letters etc. There are lots of helpful people here, but they don't all have a copy of the crossword.

Wordplay in every clue leads to an extra letter not required.

32 A. Breaking down some of royalty's isolationism (5)

Lysis, breaking down. It's in the clue, 'royalty's isolationism', with the 't' being spare.
