The clue says two words, apparently.

Scorpiojo, I'd prefer A One For, but was obeying the '2 words'.

The '2 words' could be a mistake, of course - but I prefer my crosswords error-free.

I have had a look online and 19 down is 3 words.

Thanks for that, Rusty. I still don't think it's a great clue, but at least we've got the right number of words now!

Hello, Malone.
I think Scorpio and you have it.
Chambers has "a one for" meaning "an enthusiast for".
You were right with buff/enthusiast.
It's a great help if we get told the correct amount of words/letters in the answer!
There. That's my grump for the day!

It took me a while to parse 'A One For' but I eventually broke it yesterday and concur with the parsing above. I too though am grumpy about the number of words being wrong.

On another grumpy note, has anyone else struggled to parse 1dn? I cannot break it down as to my view it uses the D twice and fails to use the first C at all. Is this a duffer too or am I just completely losing it this weekend?
