Can anyone parse 9a please:
Record of work doctor compiled for consultant C?S?B?O?

Almost certainly Casebook, but I cannot see any cryptic element to the wordplay.

Hi, I took it to be a reference to an old TV prog. called Doctor Finlay's Casebook but I'm not totally convinced!

Thanks, Brendan. You could be right, but other all-cryptic clues in the same puzzle had a little more ingenuity than that, which made me think I was missing something. Enjoyable crossword overall though.

I suspect the setter may be Roger Squires, aka Rufus, Dante - he's well known for his playful cryptic clues.

I think it's just a poor '& lit' clue.

Could be wrong of course.

I think you may be right, it was very clever. I don't know if you saw the crossword in yesterday's Times, it was a masterpiece with various references to Bowie albums and singles - Diamond Dogs, Jean Genie and others, it was a classic.
