Hi lilacwine
I'm afraid that's the point - tubers are swollen stems, not roots. Carrots and parsnips are roots, though, I think.

Wikipedia informs me (to my surprise) that there are "root tubers" too - we hadn't heard of those plants when I did biology!

I remain stuck on 23A Sub-heading under a bra (9) So far I have ???N?L?R?. I am not sure about the R, or the N for that matter !, so no wonder I cannot get it! Help please.

the n should be an A and the R should be an N - if that helps !
