Sadly I haven't got the crossers, yet, only ?C????. Does 16 across refer to piano pieces by Satie? It fits the letters I have and has the 3 letters but I am at a loss to parse it.

Yes 16a refers to Satie. Without giving too much away first two letters is one short of pain, 4 letter series of the special instructions then an old pet name for a girl(s).

All done now but not without a fight.

22 - is the 2 letters just a short form that would precede the creator?
25 - are you just chopping an n off the end?

Also - first four letters of 7 are an extremely loose synonym.

Yes a tough one which took longer than it should until I reread the instructions. I missed the bit where it said both solutions could have a series of letters which left me scratching my head quite a bit.

22. Yes
25. Yes
7. Its a cricket term.

I figured it was in relation to cricket but it doesn't really mean extra, does it?

Unless I am missing something?

Such things as wides, no-balls and byes in cricket are included on the score-sheet as "extras".
