Well, jazz and Chris, you've had a nice long chat. I'm glad I
didn't have anything to ask this week ! See you for No. 32.

Well done, doris.

Yes, I feel a bit guilty about that - perhaps we should have started a different (chatty!) thread.

In years gone by, the RT thread used to be so busy and there was a lot of chat and support for those who were ill or going through a bad time. It just happened as the RT regulars bumped into each other. Doris, I hope you found some of it interesting .

Thanks for hints for 2d. Got stuck looking for person from actual survivor programme! Managed all the others.

That's quite a stretch for the ** in French and the Irish rebel seems pretty obscure as well but it maybe that my knowledge of Irish history is lacking.

Strangely enough the rest of the compiler's clues seem OK. Usually when I have a problem with compiler's clues it affects several words

I have an answer for 10a, Nearly stop soldiers with flower container, ?T?M?N. My answer is actually the part ofthe flower (where the pollen is produced) but that does not seem to fit with 'container' . Am I missing something?

I have stamen as the answer
Sta(y) men
but there were several clues which I thought were a bit loose in this crossword and I cannot explain "container"

I am guessing that the reference to container is that the stamen contains the male sexual organs of the flower

Thanks for the suggestion, which obviously matches my answer.
Seems a little bit tenuous to me, but then again, I will not be the only one who is unhappy with this compiler.
