What a great response this week, a big thank-you to everyone who entered.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading all your clues and am truly impressed by the standard here.

With such a bumper crop of clues it is impossible to mention every clever device or witty wordplay which I liked. I’m going to limit myself to a top 3. Apologies then if you don’t get mentioned - I really did appreciate all the work in your efforts.

In third place I’ve got a tie between les40’s #16 and ixion’s last minute #72 , both cleverly finding a way to break down the word into shorter sections using devices and definitions providing a couple of "pencil chewers"

Second place is awarded to stevea6000 #39 for a great acrostic with a fabulous surface reading.

This week’s winner is the guy who fooled me into thinking he’d messed up his anagram. I should have known better. Ginge’s #8 is that type of clue then when the penny drops it nearly knocks you out (and thanks to steve for the help there !)

There's a question mark about me; not one good at getting up in the morning (6)

I’ve chosen this as your prize, since you’ve been painting

Well done ginge. Thanks bbm for hosting and the second place.

I live 5 minutes' drive from Bletchley Park, so the Enigma machine was very much part of my thinking from the moment I saw the word!
