Yes Trevor, that crossed my mind too. BARE = STRIP. E.G. IS AN ILLUSTRATION (FOR EXAMPLE). Can't understand why the whole answer is a silky fabric. Me very, very confused.

i thought it must be bile before you had the i, just couldn't see the vehicle part of the clue. [mo]bile looks ok to me.
btw. re barege (a type of fabric). eg = as an example. inside bare [strip].

stuff = material/fabric
