yes, but what's wanted is a homophone of rainy, not rain.
Surely, no matter how similar those two words might be, the word 'rain' has no relevance here. rain, rainy, chalk and cheese?
i'm willing to be corrected here because i've had a few.

Hi all. I have 2 little ones left in what was a very good puzzle for me -- clever and funny clues that I could finally get without too many trips to the Forum or Quick Solve.
My best were 1d and 14ac. But I can't follow the hint for 25ac, involving what must be obeyed. And I wonder if 11ac is Alamo but can't parse it. The clue is Couple finally leaving trendy US tourist site. I have A?A?O. I could see E leaving A la mode, but what about the D? Or am I on the wrong track?

Thanks a lot. Never thought of couple as 2 letters and knew nothing of Haggard.
